We are proud to finally share our new website with you !
This was my first visit to your new web site. I find it looks smart and works well.
Thanks for publishing very helpful information about your priorities, communities and history.

I’m trying to complete the ancestry of my great, grand-father, Vinis (Bernette) Burnett.
He was the son of a French man and Indian squaw, who came from France as a fur trader to
Montreal and settled in Wisconsin after his father was killed in war (?)! His uncle took care of
them. I don’t know his father or mother’s first names. My name: Laura Ellen (Meyer) Strauss,
mother: Gwyndolin (Summers) Meyer, Grandmother: Virdella (Burnett) Summers.
Any helps will be appreciated
I like the new site and will be contacting the Band Office very shortly. I was adopted to an english/Irish family, but I was told that I have First Nations heritage. This comes from my birthfather’s side. Through Ancestry I found my Father’s family! I felt it in my bones, I swear. My great-great Grandmother was Esther Proulx. She was I believe full Algonquin originally from Oka, but moved to the Bouchette area with her husband. I am so happy to have found out. I am so proud to know 100% for sure I am Algonquin, well Metis. I know you will all understand that I want to come up and feel the earth under my feet and acknowledge my heritage, and that “I have come home”. This has been my dream and in my dreams all my life!!
